Greensand Country

St Mary's Old Church sits at the heart of the beautiful Greensand Country landscape, easily accessible by road and train. Flitwick, Bedford and Arlesey train stations are located only 5.5, 10.1, and 8.5 miles away respectively.

Defined by the Greensand Ridge, a band of higher ground stretching from Leighton Buzzard to Gamlingay, which rises out of the surrounding vales to create a locally unique environment, Greensand Country is a great place to get outdoors and discover some fascinating history and amazing views.

There are fantastic opportunities for exploring the area on foot, bicycle or horseback, as well as parks and nature reserves to visit and diverse and wonderful wildlife to see.

We are proud to be a Greensand Country Partner, working together to support and protect the future of our distinct, beautiful and loved landscape, providing local action for climate change, encouraging wellbeing through nature and supporting our rural economy.
